BRUNO ADVENTURE

Kilimanjaro Trekking Itineraries

Marangu Route

This route is located from south east of Mount Kilimanjaro and beginnings with short drive from Moshi town to Marangu gate. This Is the oldest and well-established route with its nickname of Coca-Cola route which derived from the fact of being the only route people sleep in the hut instead of tents as other route. Marangu route is considered as the easiest route on Mount Kilimanjaro due to its gradual slope, although in the real fact should not be considered as the fact of truth and despise the necessary required preparation. This route has its own test of adventure, scenery, and challenge and in contrary to other route, it offers a comfort sleep in the shared mountain hut with solar light and comfortable sponge mattress. The uniqueness of the route is that it is the only route where client will get time to visit Zebra rocks located close to mawenzi peak. The trek uses the same route for hiking up and down and offer a great view and panoramic vistas. This hike can be climbed in five days, although at Bruno Adventure we recommend a 6 days hike with better climatization at Horombo hut with Zebra rock visit. Our success rate is 95% on this route.

Machame Route

Is second established route to Climb Mt Kilimanjaro after Marangu route. This route was nicknamed as Wiskey Route of which many people don’t know why ……. but was named as Wiskey route since was the first camping route established to hike Mount Kilimanjaro. Due to its varied and beautiful nature this route become so popular, unbeaten one and with amazing splendor. The success of the route is high to 98% with Bruno Adventure. The route start with a short drive from Moshi town to Machame gate before the hike starts. The route begins from the south heads to west and then later traverse to underneath Kilimanjaro’s southern ice filed before summiting from south east of the mountain. The population on this route has been reduced after the coming of Lemosho route which is considered as new route. These two routes meet up in day three and continue as one until the end of the tour.

Lemosho Route

Lemosho Is an improve to Shira route which begins with long drive from Moshi to Lemosho gate. The hikes start from the gate to Mti mkubwa camp which is in the forest zone. In its day one start with few hours of walk and at low altitude level, which gives high chance of acclimatization. The success of the route is high to 98% with Bruno Adventure. The route begins from west crossing the shira plateau with an amazing panoramic vistas then later traverse to underneath Kilimanjaro’s southern ice filed before summiting from south east of the mountain at Barafu camp. This route is considered most beautiful route on Kilimanjaro, but for our research and experience it’s at large offers the same scenery as Machame route. It is highly recommended using this route as its success is very high and have a varied beauty and amazing scenery, although nowadays is more populated than Machame route.

Umbwe Route

The Umbwe route is deserved to be considered as the most challenging route and that should be attempted by strong and real adventurer team. This is because the trail is not well opened due to low traffic. The route does not give necessary stage to acclimatization due to the fast ascent to high altitude which may lead to altitude sickness. The success rate to this route at Bruno Adventure is 85%. The Umbwe route start with short drive from Moshi town to Umbwe gate where the hikes begins, later join with Machame, Lemosho and Shira route at Baranco and head to East south at Barafu camp before summit. Its first day is covered with real adventure experience on a thick, health forest and wet trail. We offer this route for private hike only and can be climbed in 6 days or one can choose 7 days for better off acclimatization day spent at Baranco Camp.

Rongai Route

Is the only route that approach Mount Kilimanjaro from North East, close to Kenyan boarder. It begins with long drive from Moshi to Rongai gate where the hikes start. The route has low traffic compare to others until Uhuru peak (the summit) and later descend via Marangu route. Is more favorable during the rainy season as the fact of its location. It is located on the direction where the mountain receives very low amount of rainfall in a year and has a varies scenery and beautiful nature, therefore become the best route during the wet season. It is through this route that Mount Kilimanjaro can be climbed throughout a year. This route can be climbed in six days but at Bruno Adventure we recommend 7days with acclimatization at Mawenzi Turn hut camp. This route can be climbed by any individual even those with less backpackers’ experience, those who love mountain cycling experience and people with physical challenges. Our success rate is 98% on this route.

Shira Route

This route is located from the west side of Mount Kilimanjaro and beginnings with long drive from Moshi town to Londososi gate then bypass the forest zone by car to Shira Ridge. The route is identical to Lemosho route. In fact, Shira was the original route and Lemosho is improved variation to Shira. It corsses the Shira Plateau from west to East at flat hike before start getting steeper and then traverse to southern circuit of Branco. The route is less preferred despite of its varied beautiful features compare to its successor due to relative high altitudes of its starting point, which is quickly accessible by vehicle. It is possible to experience altitude sickness at day one due to quick drive to the very high altitude. But more preferred for those who want to go for 7 days hike in comparison for 7 days of Lemosho route.
